The Student Advisor to the CMS Board of Education serves January-December to represent the voices and perspectives of students in school board discussions and policy-making.

Role of Student Advisor
Serve January - December 2024 as the Student Advisor to the Charlotte- Mecklenburg Board of Education (CMS school board)
Actively prepare for and attend school board meetings twice a month
Share student views on policies and decisions the board is considering
Serve as an officer of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Youth Council, the CMS student advisory council

Who can be a candidate?
CMS students in grades 10-11
Sign up to be a candidate between first day of school and September 20
A school board committee selects finalists, who then run to be elected in late October through Election Day.
Election
All CMS high school students may vote for Student Advisor.
